* HDi (diesel) Engines
The three HDi engines available, a 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engines and a 2.7-litre V6 twinturbo engine, are fitted with the latest generation of common rail high pressure injection system.
* 1.6-litre HDi Diesel Engine (DV6 TED4 - FAP)
This four-cylinder fully aluminium engine is a development of the DV4 (1.4-litre) in which the displacement (1.6-litre ) is obtained by a simultaneous increase in the stroke (+6.3 mm) and bore (+1.3 mm). It has a sixteen valve head with dual overhead camshafts, roller cam followers and hydraulic tappets. Supercharging is provided by a variable geometry turbo, and the engine is equipped with a second generation Bosch common rail injection system giving a substantial reduction in fuel consumption and hence emissions.
* 2.0-litre HDi Diesel Engine (DW10 BTED4 - FAP)
With a capacity of 1,997 cm3 (bore 85 mm, stroke 88 mm), this engine features a Garrett variable geometry turbocharger with a vacuum-controlled discharge valve equipped with a front-mounted air/air exchanger. It develops a maximum power of 100 kW at 4,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 320 Nm at 2,000 rpm. The torque can attain 340 Nm at 2,000 rpm thanks to the “overboost” function, which comes into play with the engine under full load between 1,750 and 3,200 rpm. This temporary increase in torque is available in all six gears with the manual 6-speed gearbox, and in the final three gears with the automatic 4-speed box.
* 2.7 litre V6 HDi Diesel (DT17 TED4 - FAP)
This new 60deg V6 engine with a capacity of 2721 cm3 develops a power of 150 kW and a torque of 440 Nm. Its advanced design enables it to satisfy the Euro IV standard and its new maintenance-free FAP particle filter reduces particle emissions to a barely measurable level.

This body repair manual of 1996-2008 GMC Savana/Chevy Express describes incorporates picture, schemes, tables and descriptions on repairing the body of the GMC/Chevy Vans. GMC Savana and Chevrolet (Chevy Express) are General Motor’s full size vans that were built to replace the GMC Vandura and Chevy Van in 1996. Powered by V6 engine from 4.3L to 6.6L Diesel with a large and spacious body make these vans are very popluar as a work vehicle. It also available as a passenger van (with seating up to 15 passengers - depending on the model). Later in 2008 the E85 Flexfuel Vortec 5.3L V8 also was offered to empower the 2008 Express 1500 Work Van and Passenger Van, after Duramax 6.6L Diesel engine added in 2006 (as option). * Radiator Support Assembly
The radiator support assembly is made of a composite material (SMC) to reduce weight and simplify installation procedures. The radiator support bolts on and is positioned by tabs which are located into holes in the front-end lower tie bar . A steel reinforcement extends across the upper portion. This reinforcement is part of the assembly or available separately. It is attached to the radiator support by 14 rivets.
* Front Inner Fender
The front inner fender may be serviced as a complete component.
However, replacement at the factory seams requires the removal of the outer door frame panel. If the damage is limited to the front portion of the inner fender, sectioning is recommended.
* Door Service
The doors are serviced as complete assemblies, or the outer door panels may be serviced separately. Use conventional service procedures when repairing the doors. The sliding side door features bolt-on hinges, while the front doors, the 60/40 side doors, and the rear doors all feature weld on hinges. All side doors have HSLA door beams.
* Door Frame Opening
When sectioning the door frame opening in areas where there is no inner reinforcement, a 100mm backing plate must be used behind the joint to ensure a solid and secure weld. Backing plates can be cut from the unused portion of the door frame opening service part. The specific areas to be sectioned are determined by the extent of damage to the vehicle.
* Roof Panel
The roof panel consists of a single layer outer panel. The original panel is removed by cutting the panel to leave the side weld flanges attached at the “drip rail.” The service panel is not modified for installation other than drilling holes for plug welding. These procedures have been developed to simplify roof panel replacement
* Quarter Panel
The quarter panel service part is supplied as a complete panel and should be replaced as a complete panel only in the event the roof panel and upper side rail are to be replaced.
Sectioning procedures have been developed to allow the replacement of the quarter panel without the removal of the roof panel
* Rear Outer Wheelhouse
Rear outer wheelhouse sectioning procedures have been developed to simplify repair when damage is limited to the outer wheelhouse. In the event the inner wheelhouse is to be replaced, install outer wheelhouse service panel at factory seams
* Rear Door Hinge Pillar
The rear door hinge pillar service part is serviced as an assembly, which consists of the door hinge pillar outer panel and the inner anchor plate reinforcement. The reinforcement includes weld nuts for attaching the rear door bolt-on hinges.
* Floor Rear Extension
The floor rear extension panel is serviced as a single component. The reinforcement structure for the floor panel is a separate part and can only be serviced separately. In most cases, this reinforcement will need to be replaced in the event the floor panel extension is to be replaced
* Magnesium Instrument Panel Support
This component is a one-piece, die-cast magnesium instrument panel support.
It functions as a structural cross-vehicle beam, air-bag support, instrument panel carrier, steering column mounting bracket, and consolidates as many as thirty different steel and plastic components

* Frame Dimensions

This reference manual guide of Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection system used in the Porsche 912E is often referred to as the Air Flow Controlled or AFC fuel injection system. Originally, Volkswagen adapted the L-Jetronic for the Type 4 air cooled 411 engines sold in the United States due to more stringent emissions and fuel consumption regulations. It was also used in the Porsche 914 with the 1.8L engine and ultimately used in the Porsche 912E during the 1976 model year. The L-Jetronic was a further development of the D-Jetronic found in the Porsche 914 1.7L and 2.0L engines. The original L-Jetronic found in the 914 1.8L engine was further refined which resulted in the system installed in the 912E. Taken from Introduction – OBD-I, OBD-II and EMD: OBD-I vehicles use that same PCM, J1850/CAN serial data communication link, J1962 Data Link Connector, and PCM software as the corresponding OBD-II vehicle. The only difference is the possible removal of the rear oxygen sensor(s), fuel tank pressure sensor, canister vent solenoid, and a different PCM calibration. Starting in the 2006 MY, all Federal vehicles from 8,500 to 14,000 lbs. GVWR will have been phased into OBD-II and OBD-I systems will no longer be utilized in vehicles up to 14,000 lbs GVWR.

OBD-II Systems
California OBD-II applies to all California and “California State” gasoline engine vehicles up to 14,000 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) starting in the 1996 MY and all diesel engine vehicles up to 14,000 lbs. GVWR starting in the 1997 MY. “California States” are ones that have adopted California emission regulations, starting in the 1998 MY. At this time, Massachusetts, New York, Vermont and Maine have adopted California’s regulations. These States receive California-certified vehicles for passenger cars and light trucks, and medium-duty vehicles, up to 14,000 lbs. GVWR.” Federal OBD-II applies to all gasoline engine vehicles up to 8,500 lbs. GVWR starting in the 1996 MY and all diesel engine vehicles up to 8,500 lbs. GVWR starting in the 1997 MY. Starting in the 2004 MY, Federal vehicle over 8,500 lbs. are required to phase in OBD-II. Starting in 2004 MY, gasoline-fueled Medium Duty Passenger Vehicles (MDPVs) are required to have OBD-II. By the 2006 MY, all Federal vehicles from 8,500 to 14,000 lbs. GVWR will have been phased into OBD-II. OBD-II system implementation and operation is described in the remainder of this document.
